【摘要】:ThisInternationalStandarddefinesandpromotestheuseofastandardcode(ISSN)fortheuniqueidentificationofserialsandothercontinuingresources.EachInternationalStandardSerialNumber(ISSN)isauniqueidentifierforaspecificserialorothercontinuingresourceinadefinedmedium.ThisInternationalStandardalsodescribesamechanism,the“linkingISSN(ISSN-L),”thatprovidesforcollocationorlinkingamongthedifferentmediaversionsofthesamecontinuingresource.ISSNareapplicabletoserialsandtoothercontinuingresources,whetherpast,presentortobepublishedorproducedintheforeseeablefuture,whateverthemediumofpublicationorproduction.Individualmonographs,soundandvideorecordings,printedmusicpublications,audiovisualworksandmusicalworkshavetheirownnumberingsystemsandarenotspecificallymentionedinthisInternationalStandard.SuchitemsmaycarryanISSNinadditiontotheirownstandardnumberswhentheyarepartofacontinuingresource.MoredetailedoperationalguidanceisprovidedintheISSNManualavailablefromtheRegistrationAuthorityforthisInternationalStandard(seeClause11).
